Talk to me about VG-10

I have noticed that VG-10 steel has been very popular in kitch knoves for some time. Now we seem to have a number of folders making their way into mainstream from Spyderco, Kizer, Booker and others.

Anyone have any examples? How does it hold an edge? Any other impressions?

Curious minds.

I have VG-10 in all my kitchen knives, even my Hattori.

The real eye opener was a little 3-inch Spyderco. A woman from my gym was going to the sandbox and I offered her a polish. She told me she was leaving immediately and just saying good-bye. I patted myself down and gave her the VG-10 Spyderco and off she went.

About 13 months later she returned, and as we talked I asked her how the knife served her. She said, "Oh, we all used it."

I questioned the word "all." She stated she was in a six man rifle company, and it was their only knife.

She added, "It's still cutting."

If the U.S. Army and Ichiro Hattori can't break it, I guess it's alright.

That’s what I was reading. Seems like a bear to sharpen, but stays that way.

Of course you did, Chico -- that is one of the reasons we all support you. Keep up the good work.
