Hello, world!

It's nice be here at KT. I only recently learned that there a knife section here, and rumor has it there' an incorrigible tinker here that used to frequent the old KnifeForums.com, may it rest in peace.

I don't actually have a Kimber right now but I've had a couple. My sharpening 'speciality' is mostly Japanese kitchen knives but I sharpen anything that's dull when it needs it. My folders are mostly Spyderco with a few SAKs thrown in and I'm a frequent fixed blade user (love to camp and hike and presently calling Montana home).

Thanks to everyone for letting me join up!

Excellent! Another Rob to join KT! Welcome.

Since that old cheese eater you speak of has joined KT, I can't let anyone help in the kitchen without first having a serious discussion about safety. He's definitely pointing me in the right direction.

Welcome to the forum from northern Illinois Rob. Chico has dropped your name here a time or two and should be along with his morning aches and pains report.

PS it's not necessary to own a Kimber to participate on Kimber Talk.

Rob! It's great to hear from you!

And despite Chuck's turgid cacophony of disinterest and humorous abuse, yes, I also mentioned your name.

Chuck was kind enough to open a knives section here, and while I can slick up your average folder, I was quick to mention that you had much better skills with folded Japanese steel.

I'm glad you found us!

Rob, to bring you up to speed, I made a very informed contact person, Joyce, who along with her husband has a fully stocked knife business. If they don't have it, she'll get it.

I needed/wanted a superior EDC folder of both good design with a known alloy blade. Three days later Joyce delivered to my door a Protech/Emerson automatic folder--perfect condition, not a ding anywhere.

Darker gray aluminum handle and black 154CM drop-point blade. I did give it a ten minute tune-up, there was a small flat spot 1/3rd of the way down from the tip. Shaped it with a Schwartz 140, then did a north/south (followed by an east/west) polish with a 600 grit white stone.

It's been within arm's reach ever since.

BTW, my Hattori is taking a beating every night when my wife cooks dinner. Not so much as a scratch on that bad boy!
