My new knives for the winter.

I cannot tell you the reason why, but when the climate changes to 'winter' around me, I rotate my clothes, my firearms and my knives into the "cheap zone." I see no reason to take my valuable toys out into a cold, thoughtless world.

I found a folder that might surprise you, but I think it would make a great polar tool. It's a very inexpensive folder (I bought two of them just in case they shatter), with a semi-serrated blade, a seat-belt cutter on the butt, and a handle in bright yellow in case I drop it into a Wisconsin snow drift.

Odd as this may sound, all of my "good knives" have a plain edge. These new folders are my only serrated ones. I hope my instincts are correct on this wintery mode.

LOL, well, it snowed here recently in Wisconsin, but so far no one is out building igloos!

I've seen and collected a lot of knives, but your picture is a new one on me!

Thanks for the posting!

I did confirm that my red-point folder is on the way. Actually, I bought two of them since I like to have a "spare."

As I stated, this folder will be a working knife for the winter months, and while I'm not a big fan of serrations, I can see where some chores or emergencies might require an edge like that.

The intake worker at the knife outlet says my folders will come within four to eight days, so I might be doing a showcase rather late this time.

I see something familiar in the background of that photo....a nice Huburtus auto resting in the glass case almost unnoticed.

Excellent knives!

My Father's Old Knife

This is my Father's old knife given to him, after he had sufficient points to return to the States at the end of WWII, in the Spring of 1946. The Filipinos, with whom he had been working, fabricated this Bolo knife, and presented it to him, upon his departure from the Philippines to the U.S. When he retired, he was throwing things into the trash, including this knife, and I told him that I wanted the it, so he gave it to me. The inscription reads: HELLO! YOU ARE LUCKY JOE
Overall, it is 7 1/2 inches long, with a 4 inch blade. It is still sharp, but not mirror sharp!

Well, 'new' knives might be a stretch, but I believe we might be better served with 'different' knives.

I'm switching over to knives made from lots of stainless steel. I also bought two new knives with rubberized grips that are less prone to dropping with a frozen hand.

Yeah, my Buck 112s sure are pretty, but wooden grips and lots of tarnished brass aren't the recipe when you have to dig your truck out of a snowdrift.

BTW, I will do a showcase on these new knives when they arrive early next week.
