For Sale Simon Kenton - His Life and Period 1755 - 1836 by Edna Kenton
This is a cir. 1930 first edition of the book written by Edna Kenton, a direct descendant of Simon Kenton. She used the Draper Papers to research his adventures in the early days of our country in what is now Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana and Virginia. This is a very nice, clean copy with the often not included original dust jacket. These originals are very hard to find in this nice condition especially for an almost 90 year old book. A great addition to any library. The photos below depict the overall great condition of this copy. The inside of the front couple pages has a coat of arms and information of previous owner. I have seen originals listed online for much, much more. Ask any questions you may have BEFORE you offer to buy.
Chapters in the book are titled:
--Kentucky the strange land
-- Early life and the flight from Virginia
-- In Kentucky
-- Lord Dunmore's War
-- He finds the cane-lands of Kentucky
-- Kenton and Clark
-- His captivity and escape
-- On Indian campaigns with Clark
-- Kenton's station
-- His Indian campaigns
-- Last years in Kentucky
-- Early days in Ohio
-- The unfortunate years
-- The latter years
-- The portraits and the man.
Since my recent retirement, I have been looking to "thin the herd" of things that I have collected over the years. I have enjoyed many items and books and it's hard to part with things but it is time. I will post this here on KT for a few weeks! Then I'll be forced to take it to the trouble of Ebay(I hate eBay's seller unfriendly terms).
No refunds or returns, but then, the pictures show the condition. What you see is what you get.
I may be posting other books, especially Allan Eckert books and others about the areas of Ohio /Kentucky that are with stories of the adventures of Simon Kenton, Simon Girdy, Tecumseh and Daniel Boone in the near future.
Priced at $225.00 shipped (insurance and tracking) to the 50 states.
USPS Money Order is the only accepted form of payment(Sorry, no Pay Pal).
See pictures below. Thanks for looking!
