Deeply Addicted to Buying Guns

About seven years ago I decided to take a concealed carry course. I'm a former LEO so dug out my old S&W M&P .38 special...cleaned it off, cleaned off some very old rounds. Found out I still shoot straight and enjoyed it. When the permit came in figured I needed to buy a concealable gun...and did. That was about 60 guns ago.

I live far northern Arizona in one of the most remote towns in the lower 48 so gun shopping isn't easy. Wind up thinking I want a certain gun and buy it, then find out its a nightmare to disassemble or reassemble or malfunctions too often. So I sell that gun and buy another one I think I like.

Over the years it's shaken out to a decision to stay with 1911s and revolvers....okay and a few rifles and a nice home defense Mossberg 500 Cruiser.

All that led me to a Gary Reader Custom Texas Ranger Classic with blue trim and engraving. Which led to a Colt Defender with Ian Morrison engraving that I'm putting blue grips on (they're in the mail)....then this last weekend I'm cruising Gunbroker and find a Kimber .380 special edition engraved in Sapphire. Fits with the other two blue engraved ones. The price was very good. It should arrive today at my LGS.

So figured I should find a Kimber forum and learn more about it. Our local gun range is a dream. Only $40 a year and pistol, combat pistol, rifle, shotgun, archery, and police ranges. But its always windy and sandy so I buy extra magazines to take to the range and not have to reload in the sand. Gonna need extra mags for this new Kimber....maybe can get some hints here.

Don't normally run on so long, but its an intro....

Hey, welcome to the forum from GA! You've come to the right place if you are addicted to guns, only now you will be addicted to Kimber guns! You can't just have one! So be prepared! Congratulations on the Sapphire Micro 380, it's a beautiful pistol and I think you will find that it is a fun pistol to shoot. Make sure you clean and lube it well before giving it a try. Everyone here advises to run it wet while breaking it in. They will also recommend using heavier grains during that time too. Read your manual for ammo suggestions, try different brands and different grains. I am pretty sure that the Kimber website has magazines for the Micro 380 in stock or you should be able to find them somewhere, it's the Micro 9 mags that are hard to come by now. Also, the Sig P238 mags fit the M380 too so if that's easier to find locally give it a try. I have used both in my M380.

Love that you can join an outdoor range for such a reasonable amount. I belong to indoor ranges down here and they are not so price friendly, but gotta do what you gotta do! Best of luck to you and I hope you enjoy your new Kimber!
