New Member from N.W. Montana

Owned a Springfield Armory 1911 A1 for over 25 years. I was for a long time disappointed with the pistol and its quirks. Finally replaced all the springs, and the new stronger tension recoil spring fixed all the pistols FTFs. My love for the 1911 has rebounded stronger then ever.

Now I have my Kimber, a previously owned Stainless II, but I cannot see any evidence that it had been fired. A beautiful pistol. Once I replace the plastic Main Spring Housing it will be my prized piece. Actually it is already, but the plastic MSH must go.

Welcome from Pinellas Park Florida. I too don't like the plastic main spring housing but I have never herd of one failing.

Welcome to the forum again, I wouldn't let that plastic mainspring housing bother you too much. I've read a ton of complaints about them but never heard of one breaking. A couple of members here have replaced them using an Ed Brown housing that looks fantastic.

Thanks for the Welcome. The second I picked up the Kimber and held it, the quality over my Springfield was very evident. I got a pretty good deal on this, considering it's lack of evidence of being fired and it's flawless condition, so spending some money on a new MSH is fine with me.
