New Kimber Lover From Illinois

Hello everyone, good to come in from the shadows of the forum(I've read the forum for awhile just never joined) so I can add my 2cents worth once in a while. Well I'm a retired UAW worker and have shot guns since I was old enough to hold one. When I was young we lived in the country with hills and heavy woods all around. One of my fondest memories is sitting on the back porch shooting tin cans off stumps with my 22 rifle.
I own a couple of Kimbers, a Custom ll which I've had a 3 years now and have "dolled" it up quite a bit, and now is my favorite gun to shoot. With over 3000 rds through it and absolutely no problems I'm happy to say.

I just purchased my first pocket gun, a micro .380 and I have to say I gave it long hard thought before pulling the trigger. I've read to many horror stories on this forum about this model and was extremely nervous about getting one, but I love 1911's and wanted a baby one too so I decided to roll the dice. Bought it on Sunday, brought it home Thursday, broke it down, cleaned and lubed it heavy for the break in. I'm not kidding when I say I was really nervous to find out whether it was going to be a dandy or a dud...I can count all the problems I've ever had with all my other guns on one hand, so I was really hoping not to have to send this gun back and forth to the manufacture like some others have.
Went to the range today with 4 different magazines, and 3 different types of ammo, Federal 95gr, Blazer 95gr, and SigSauer 100gr, all FMJ. So here goes, I charge the gun for the first time and BUMMER, at first I thought it jammed but looking closer I saw that it did not go into battery...dropped the mag and ejected the rd and it looked good so put it back in the mag and charged the gun again, same thing. This time I put a little pressure on the back of the slide with my thumb and it popped into battery, fired the first 6 shots no problem. I put 150 rounds through it and the only problem was I had to push the slide into battery about 80% of the time, but only on the first round, no problems emptying the mags.
So I called Kimber when I got home explained the problem to them and they are now sending me a new flat spring and rod to fix the problem. All in all I was very happy with how it shot, very accurate and with the crimson trace grips too.

The End

Welcome to the forum WillyD from Portage, Indiana. I have a Micro Raptor 380 that is a pleasure to shoot. I'm sure you will get things worked out on your new micro.
