Welcome. If you’re talking about Kimber just buy them both. You’ll end up with them both eventually anyway, Kimbers are like potato chips ,you can’t have just one.

Welcome to the forum from northern Illinois GRUMPY247. That is a difficult question to answer. I'm going to guess that you are new to shooting so I suggest you visit a range that has rental guns and try shooting the different calibers.

Intellectually, I know that premium 9mm delivers excellent defensive performance and more available rounds.

But for sheer giggle factor when making targets dance, bigger holes are better.

Retired LEO and you're unsure? While I know not all LEOs are "beat cops," I'd think there would have been some water cooler talk about it.

Regardless, I'd suggest letting us know what your primary purpose is. That will help a lot to offer pertinent advice. Although if you're looking at defending yourself from the Moros, I'd say .45 all day

45 rings the steel much better and knocks them down with authority. 9mm is cheaper to shoot. I say both.

Welcome from Michigan.

Gocart asks a good question is it for self defense or target shooting or both. Then you can go for short barrel or 5" and even 6" if you want to get a 10 mm. lots of choices. The smallest Kimber I have is the solo (disc.) The largest would be my Raptor fullsize in .45. The one with the most snap or recoil is my Eclipse in 10 mm. You will enjoy whatever you decide to purchase.

Welcome to the site from Tennessee. Personal taste. I'm in the .45acp club 100%. I do on occasion play with the 9mm at the range.
