New member from NE Illinois.

Long time gun owner though I haven't owned a 1911 style pistol in more than 45 years.

Just adopted a minty Kimber Ultra Carry II and I think that I'm in love. I thought my Glock 30 was a sweet shooter but the Ultra is really great.

Looking forward to learning more about the proper care and feeding of 1911's in general and compact Kimbers in particular.

Stay safe!

Welcome from the Mountain State. Careful with that new Kimber, they tend to multiply. Most 1911s aren't real picky about ammo, break it in with some good 230gn hardball and it should be fine. After that you can try out a few HP loads and find what it likes best.

Enjoy the process ...

Welcome to Kimber Talk from SoCal. I happen to own a Ultra Carry II myself and absolutely love the way it shoots. I say the way it shoots because it is much more accurate than I am! Clean lube and shoot. We like range reports with pictures. Again welcome to the forum we gladly pass around a little knowledge and have a little fun. Also you will never be made to feel guilty about any gun purchases. Most here are great enablers!

Welcome. It's funny--one might initially think that a tiny 1911 might not be all that fun, but mine's not only FUN, to shoot, but it will drive tacks.

Welcome to the site from Tennessee. No matter what the internet says the 3" Ultra's are fine shooters.

Welcome from Northeast, Pa.

I was skeptical about 3” 1911s in 45 prior to buying one, boy I was wrong.
