New Member, New Kimber. Having FTF Issues

Hello everyone,

I just turned 21 a few weeks ago and I went out and bought a kimber desert warrior since I've always wanted a 1911. The gun is amazing. By far one of the most accurate pistols I've shot but mine doesn't like to feed ammo all that often. I have Wilson combat mags and the mag that came with the gun and I can replicate the FTF issue I'm having with both mags. *see picture* granted I replicated the problem with snap caps, this is the same issue that happens when I use live Ball ammo. It looks like the edge of the bullet casing is getting caught on the feed ramp. Maybe I'm wrong but I'm thinking it's the ramp but maybe it's the mags. What are your thoughts?

Thank you for your time.

I also forgot to mention that I already have 300 rounds through it. I get this issue about once every mag or so. I've cleaned it after each time its been shot. I haven't tried different ammo yet but Ill definitely try your recommendation. Thank you for the input.

Welcome to the forum from northern Illinois sethj and congratulations on the new Desert Warrior and turning 21. Clean and lube the gun frequently as the owners manual instructs until the gun has gone through it's break in period. Cycling the slide manually with an unloaded gun while watching TV will help the gun loosen up.

Sethj, welcome to the site from Tennessee. Congrats on turning 21 and being smart enough to buy a 1911.
I agree with Chuck and will add lube it wetter than normal. Try some different magazines, I've had some trouble with WC mags.
For sure try some different 230gr hardball ammo.

Great looking Warrior.

Run it very wet until the end of the break-in period. I've run American Eagle 230 gr. ball through all of mine without a problem. Using Kim-Pro tac-mags exclusively + the original in-the-box mag. Good luck.

One of the first things I do with any new semi auto is get out my Dremel tool with a polishing disk and polish the feed ramp. Also Kimber recommends 500 rd break in.
