Escaping from California

I am recently retired and moving back to the beauty of the Appalachian Mountains of East Tennessee. It's going to be nice to be able to go shooting at home instead of going to the range. I have a couple 1911s, only one Kimber. A compact stainless in 40 S&W. I got it new in 2002. Always ran like a clock except when new it only liked Federal Premium Hydra-Shok ammo. After a few thousand rounds it now eats whatever you feed it. Finally changed recoil spring at around 6K rounds, just because. No real reason other than I kept reading they should be changed about every 5k rounds.

I've heard lots of people are leaving California. The news states that taxes and deductions are the root cause.

What's the straight scoop?

Welcome to KT from St Lou.

It's always a great idea to read the manual when it comes to spring replacement. The 40 cal that you have states that the recoil spring should be changed at 800 rounds not 5K....
