the new guy

Hello
I am new to the board. When I came home from Iraq in 2007 I purchased my first 45. It is a Kimber Pro CDP II. I cleaned it the other day and when I reassembled it and went to the range I lost my extractor. Yep dummy move. I called Kimber to try to get a replacement for it and was informed they did away with it. So I can send it in and have the slide replaced with one of the internal extractors or I can try to find one to replace it. I am struggling with finding a replacement for it. If anyone has one or knows where I can get one I would greatly appreciate it. I would like to keep it in the original configuration.

Welcome to the forum from northern Illinois ALF and thank you for your service. I have some places I can check, if I come across one I'll send you a PM.

Two ideas. One, I have several high-lumen flashlights. If you think you lost it at home, turn on the SureFire and roll it across the floor. I've found the tiny pills my wife takes on the first roll.

Second, you can try this at the range, sometimes you get lucky. But if you know someone with a metal detector (even my wife has one) try that.

It's cheaper than a new slide.

(True story. One Christmas I gave my no-brother-good-inlaw a two battery SureFire. Shortly, two of his daughters came home from a large Milwaukee park saddened because one of them had lost a garnet earring, her gift. Since it was dark, I took the flashlight and asked her to come outside with me. I did sweep of the lawn and saw a sparkle--I told her it was a piece of gum wrap foil, she was astonished.

I gave her the flashlight, told her to stand at the corner of the park, and do the same scan. The red dot would be her earring.

She returned twenty minutes later, smiling and wearing both garnets.)

Welcome to the Forum from a Middle Tennessean. I came back from Vietnam in 1971 and purchased a Colt 45 a few years later....still have it. I liked it because I carried one when I flew. Hope you have found a solution to your problem.
