New to Kimber Talk, not new to Kimber

Hello all... just joined as I am looking at purchasing a CCW and have been eye balling the Micro 9 Desert Tan. I'm a long time owner of one of the oldie but goodie Kimbers... a 1911 Classic Stainless made in 1999, Series 1. Love that gun, a little work done to the trigger and some polishing before I got it. Dream to shoot.

So I was looking for a CCW and narrowed it down to the Micro 9 and the Sig P938. Leaning towards the M9 at this point so figured I'd drop in and say hi and read a bit on Kimber Talk.

Welcome to the forum from Northeast, Pa.

I have a P938 and it’s been a great carry gun. I like the look of the Micro 9 but I don’t have one to comment on the function.

I had a 938 for a couple of years and have no complaints whatsoever. The only thing that I wished it had was a Crimson trace laser grip. Learning that you could not install one on Sig I went and bought a Micro 9 SS LG. As far as function goes it's every bit as good as the Sig but I like the roundness of the slide versus the square look on the Sig. But as far as function goes you might as well flip a coin they're both very reliable.

Cucuamonga-kid... that's exactly what I've been reading and finding out from those I talk to. The Desert Tan I'm looking at does have the LG which was an additional reason I was leaning towards the Kimber. I may eventually put night sights on it but with the laser, I figured that would be fine in that regard anyway. I will have to get use to the LG as initially my finger rest for drawing and acquiring target rests up on the slide a little so it blocks the laser... but it won't take too long to retrain a new touch point especially being a new gun to learn anyway.

I love the way the FO front sight pops in the daytime. But at night it's pretty useless but then again I have the laser.

Welcome from the edge of the Atlantic in North Carolina. I have a Stainless Classic too, but a little younger than yours. I say Micro 9. I handled both, liked the feel of the Micro 9 better and bought, carry and love it.
