New to Kimber, need some advice

Hey all,

Ive been a long time recreational shooter, but my experience with Kimbers is limited. I have alwasy admired them, but not the price.

I am currently selling an item and the buyer has offered his Kimber as a partial trade to spice up the deal.

Im interested in it, but not really sure what the value is or any details on if its a solid model or not.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. He stated its a Kimber Crimson Pro Carry II in .45. I attached a photo as well. When I looked them up I couldn't find a similar pistol. This model also does not seem to have the crimson trace laser grip. He did say he had it re-springed? and that he was told it was worth around $1700.

When I checked Kimbers sight they said the Crimson Pro Carry II MSRPd at around $1200.

Any advice on where I could head to get more research on this particular model. Im definately interested in it, but his price quote seems high, and for some reason I feel it is a different model then the crimson pro.

Thanks all, and looking forward to joining and being on this forum.

Welcome to the forum from northern Illinois Mizzac. First if it's really a Pro Crimson Carry II it will say so on the side of the slide. The Pro Crimson Carry II should come with a set of Crimson Trace grips ($339.00), I don't see them on that gun do they come with it or not? Replacing the springs is something Kimber suggest you after you've fired about 800 rounds, it's not a big deal ($14.95). It's definitely not a $1700.00 gun, over all the gun looks nice, I'd allow maybe $700.00 for it.

I see them in my area for around $1200 naturally they retail for more and if you were to trade one in to one of our local dealers the best you would be allowed is no more than $700 - 800.

It's a nice pistol.

I did a GunBroker completed sales search. For the Non-Crimson NIB, it looks like they go regularly for $630 - $650.

If the gun is in good shape, I totally agree with Chuck. $700 would be top price, IMO.

Welcome from Northern Illinois, and I completely agree with all above. This is NOT a Crimson model, at least based on what's in the photo. There are no laser grips shown, just some nice aftermarket grips. $700 max for this gun, IF everything else is in good shape.

Welcome to the site from Tennessee! I totally agree with Chuck, Marshall, Gator. At no time is it ever a 1,700 dollar pistol. If it still had the Crimson Trace grips it would retain a little more value.
I think MSRP on that pistol is $1,206.00.

Did you look under that padding there may be $1000 bill under there. Then that would make it about right $1700.
