Hello from Long Island NY

Hello All
I'm from the sinkhole aka new york state. I'm looking to purchase my first 1911 and decided on a kimber once I save up the $1000 or so that one costs.

Any recommendations would be welcome.

I've shot my friends Custom TLE/RL II and I loved it.

Take your pick of whatever flavor of Kimber meets your needs. Since we don't know your needs or eants, we can't help you focus on a Kimber model. I have the baby Kimber, a Micro 380, and love it.
You can't go wrong with any Kimber imho.

Welcome from Indiana
I agree with Donald but I will also say it doesn't matter where you start because after your first the only answer is more.

Welcome to the forum from northern Illinois ChiefSailer, that's a tough question your asking. What do you want the gun for, home defense, punching targets, concealed carry? Do you want a 5", 4" or 3" barrel? What caliber do you want 9mm or .45? Steel or aluminum frame, fixed or target sights?

Now you know why most of us own multiple Kimbers, LOL.

Welcome from Ohio ! Start with the 4inch pro Kimber Stainless Raptor, the prettiest best shooting and most comfortable. The others are alright I guess

Another welcome from Ohio. As you can tell, we like our Kimbers. The only correct answer is to get one of each!

I should've been more specific. I tend to shoot full size pistols better. My friends custom tle has a 5" barrel and is stainless steel in 45 ACP. So I'm leaning toward that only in all black. I want to use it for the range and maybe USPSA matches.

ETA: there are so many (too many actually) choices. That's why I wanted the advice. I actually should've asked which ones you guys have and why you like a particular model.

Look at a Kimber Custom Target II 5" .45 with adj. sights. That should meet all your stated requirements. You can find a new/old stock gun on Gunbroker.com for well under $1000.00.
