Say Goodbye To Your Grandfathered Magazines, Californians

Gun control initiative allowing ammo confiscation qualifies for ballot in California - Washington Times

Gun control initiative allowing ammo confiscation qualifies for ballot in California.

A Democrat backed measure that would give California the nation’s toughest restrictions on ammunition and allow the seizure of magazines exceeding 10 rounds has qualified for the state ballot.

The California Secretary of State’s office announced Thursday that the Safety for All initiative, championed by Democratic Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, had gathered the petition signatures necessary for a slot on the Nov. 8 ballot.

“Enough massacres, death, tears, and hate it’s time to take action and save lives,” Mr. Newsom said in the Sacramento Bee. “The Safety for All initiative gives California voters the opportunity to keep guns and ammo out of the hands of violent, dangerous, hateful people.”

The initiative would prohibit the possession of “large capacity ammunition magazines” those with more than 10 rounds and require owners to dispose of them by returning them to firearms dealers, destroying them or moving them out of the state.

The measure would also require background checks for ammunition purchases; require ammunition sales to be conducted through licensed vendors, and require those purchases to be reported to the Justice Department. Gun owners would be mandated to report lost or stolen firearms.

I'm stunned. P.S. I'm happy to "transfer" those AR magazines for my California brothers and sisters.

They say NY and CA are typically about 10 years ahead of the rest of the country...
...It will be interesting to see if this passes?

I don't put anything beyond the stupidity of today's politicians.

We have a radio talk show in the morning in my area. During one of these debates on handguns I told the host that no leftist has a thing to fear from my handguns.

I have a strict policy, which I cloak under the excuse that I am retired and on a fixed income. My policy is that I will not expend one, single round of expensive defensive combat ammunition to save the life of a liberal.

Oh, the jihadists and bangers can butcher, torture, maim, rape and kidnap all they want among those who disarm themselves, but this is not my problem.

(Strangely, the Wisconsin CCW provision allows me to defend a third party, but does not require it).

I told the talk show host simply that the liberal will still die, but in so doing he will not die a hypocrite.

If I am to be disenfranchised in any way for any clause or Amendment in the Constitution, I see no reason to help those who take my freedoms. I mean, would you join the bucket-brigade saving the burning house of the man who slept with your wife?

If the leftists want a world without guns, then let them deal with the violent aspects of crime with a rousing rendition of "Kumbaya" while I walk safely to an exit.
