At The Range

Sun was shining, a lot of the snow has melted and it's up to 45 degrees, so I headed to the range today. Being an outdoor range the ground was a little sloppy, but bearable. Spent about three hours shooting steel plates. As expected my SPC II ran flawlessly through 250 rounds and was a joy to shoot. Had my first ever malfunction with a Glock. My Gen 3 G19 had a stovepipe. My shooting buddy and I both think it was a defective shell casing. 99 out of 100 perfect rounds from the Glock. We finished the day at the rimfire targets. I didn't even bother to keep a round count as we were having too much fun.

As a side story, my buddy just bought a Rock Island 9mm 1911. That's a lot of gun for the $425 he paid for it. 9mm in a 1911 platform shoots as soft as a .22 It was a whole lot more accurate then I expected. I liked it!

For the most part I'm limited to indoor ranges, our closest outdoor range is 76 miles away.

Forgot to mention, today was my shooting buddies birthday. We try to celebrate birthdays with gunsmoke rather then cake!

Well, on the bright side, it's a lot less fattening.

The fit and finish of the Rock Island weren't Kimber quality, but I got to admit they aren't bad guns. We put about 200 rounds through it, mostly my buddies reloads and only had a couple of malfunctions.

Rock Island also recommends 500 rounds break in!
