I got Cujoed tonight!

Weird, I was washing my car in front of my house about dusk. I was also trying to charge my lawn mower battery out back. I decided to check on my battery and went around back. Upon returning, I heard my little schnauzer dog raising cane at the front door. As I approached, I heard the God awfullest sound coming front right outside. I looked out the door and there was a LARGE GERMAN SHEPHERD trying to eat my front door and in doing so, demolished my sliding screen door. The crazed dog was trying to get to my little pooch. I called 911 and took my little dog to the back of the house and when I returned the dog had moved to a side window and was tearing away siding, screen, casing, aluminum facia, you name it. I called 911 again and told them that I was going to shoot this dog as he was using my house as a chew toy. The cops did arrive and they took the dog into custody. Three items come to mind: 1.) The neighbors small children usually running around at that time were in VA on vacation. 2.) I JUST missed the beast by a couple of moments 3.) I really have to think hard about my carry habits. What might have been under a couple of other very possible scenarios? The dog did not have a collar, I have worked LE with some dog units that reminded me of this dog.

As much as I am a dog lover, I'd give my life to protect my family and my dog as well. I'd shoot him to do it. It's a kill or be killed world and that goes for malicious animals of the 4 legged kind too.

Absolutely right about the carry. I cleaned up this morning and took pics for insurance. Crazed? Look at this pic and be the judge.

Totally agree. In my line of work I've seen some truly vicious dogs. If one was threatening me, or my own dogs I wouldn't hesitate to shoot. We also have several young children in our neighborhood - what an awful thought of how this scenario could have played out any children were outside.

Rangemeister - Did the police locate an owner? What are they doing with the dog?
