Nationwide Reciprocity Permit

The NRA has given its approval but what are your thoughts on this ?

Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act ? The NRA Has Given It The Stamp Of Approval But Will It Make It Through Congress? ? Concealed Nation

My thoughts.....

It's better than what we got now. Still not the solution I'd like to see.

I want to see them totally do away with carry permits. The bad guys don't have them that's for sure.

Marshall, I think it's a step in the right direction. It will still make it difficult for some states, such as Mississippi, that have constitutional carry. You don't have to have a permit to carry there. They do have an enhanced permit you can obtain, so if you had that other states would recognize it.

I'm of two minds about permits in general. I don't think requiring them is constitutional, however, I do like that everyone who carries legally in my state (TN) has to have some training and instruction. I've run into too many people with questionable decision making skills to feel entirely comfortable. But I'm becoming more convinced that less regulation in most instances is better.

Bad guys have guns anyway and they already have them illegally. Requiring a permit does not stop them from possessing and using guns. Felons are already unable to have a gun legally. Dropping the requirement for CCW permits wouldn't affect felons at all.

I agree with you on training. There's kids at the range on weekends that freak me the f%#k out!

I need some land in Texas where I can shoot anytime.......

When it comes to the gang bangers...I have 2 ideas.

1) Give them all FREE firearms training. That way they can actually hit the member of the rival gang that they're shooting at. NOT the innocent child playing in their front yard.

2) After training, herd all the gangs up at your state's NFL stadium. Lock them in there. Let them shoot each other up. Winners get a free ticket to the Middle East to hunt ISIS.

In my mind this is a big Pandora's Box that may or may not need to be open.
When our elected officials in Washington get together and start trading tit for tat, what will we end up with that we don't have now ?
Here in Missouri we have constitutional carry, no mag limit and is a shall issue state.
If the boys and girls from California and New York would have their way I would be carrying low capacity mags and be required to have a permit to carry and be a roster purchase state like Commifornia.
What if our elected officials come up with a trade-off of national gun registry for nationwide reciprocity ? In no way would I and millions of other like me go for that.
This is just me but I'm happy the way it is. I'm legal to carry in over 30 states and the ones that don't accept my permit, I wouldn't go to them anyway...
