To all of the Retired/Current Law Enforcement Officers

Back on November 20, 2016 this was a story that shocked our town to it's core..A police officer simply stopped to buy some lottery tickets and his life changed forever in the blink of an eye.. Here is his story....

Wounded St. Louis police sergeant teeters on whether to stay or go | Law and order | stltoday.com

Now we all see them driving by us on a daily basis and probably don't think twice about how dangerous their jobs can be. They have families just like you and I, go to church and serve our community..The difference is these men and women strap on a bullet proof vest before placing their uniform shirt over it. They answer calls on their radios and pull over random people not knowing what lies ahead in the next few moments. They do a job that many of us wouldn't have the nerve to do and they do it day after day.

It's not said enough here on KT where many current and retired LEO"S are members, but thank you so very much. Thank you for making our cities as as safe as they can be. Thank you for being that person that is running towards the gunfire as others are running from it..... May God bless you all...

This is so true.
I am the Chairman of the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department Merit Board.
We are responsible for hiring and discipline of Deputies as well as setting rules and regulations within they act.
Believe me there are many fine young men and women seeking a career in law enforcement. However because of the recent hostilities towards police officers the numbers are down. The pay isn't what it should be and many other factions. Please just say hi or ask how they are doing when you have the opportunity. I promise you it will help reassure them they made the right choice.

Exclamation I Second That!!

I'm with you, Marshall!! Many thanks to the law enforcement folks that keep us safe--past, present and future!!

Those folks not only strap on body armor, they follow that up by pinning a silver or gold target on their chest at the beginning of every shift!! And the vast majority of them do it with pride, dedication and integrity!!

I always make the time to thank officers, troopers and deputies for what they do. They hear that far to seldom!!
