Talking Early Spring In The South!!

Early this morning, at the Yellow River Game Ranch, in Lilburn, Georgia OUR groundhog, General Beauregard Lee emerged from his antebellum mansion and DID NOT SEE HIS SHADOW!! Thus, WE will have an early spring!!

General Lee has been correct for years with his predictions. The same can not be said for that Yankee rodent up in Pennsylvania!!! We in the South are due for an early spring!! YEE HAW!!

As for that Pennsylvania fat fur ball, Punxsatawney Phil, well, he says you Yankees are gonna freeze your butts off for another six weeks!! SORRY!!

THE TEMPERATURES IN THE SOUTH WILL RISE AGAIN!!!

You guys only have 3 seasons down there, Spring, Summer and Fall. You don't have a clue as to what winter is.

All the trees and shrubs are already sprouting and budding out. Hope we don't have a hard freeze before the "real" spring gets here.

As far as "real" winter. Y'all can keep it. No jealousy, no envy over y'alls winter, what so ever. Nope. None. Don't want it, don't like it, y'all keep it.

As my 95 year old aunt once stated: "Those that choose to live up there, Deserve it!" She was commenting on it after our son moved to Cleveland when he followed a girl home after college and kept complaining about the weather.

After almost 20 years living in the Great Lakes Snow Belt, I don't miss those winters...and to top that off, Chattanooga Chuck did not see his shadow yesterday. So, looking forward to cutting that Tennessee Winter off at the knees...the dandelions have been in bloom for a few weeks already!

The coldest I ever was: Jan 20, 1985 it was a Sunday morning when I received an emergency call asking me to come into work. A Chicago hospital (St. Elizabeth's) was experiencing problems with their phone service. The source of the trouble was in a cable splice 20+ feet up a telephone pole in an alley behind the hospital. What would have normally taken me about 45 minutes to fix took almost 5 hours. I couldn't begin to guess the number of times I climbed up and down that pole to thaw my hands so I could work on the splice. The actual temperature was -27 degrees and the wind chill was -70. That turned out to be the coldest day ever recorded in Chicago. When I got back home I had to submerge myself in a hot bath for an hour to stop shaking, that's one day that I will remember for the rest of my life.
