I was about to be drafted and was worrying about the lottery. My lottery number was called and the number was #347. So that left me out being drafted. That was the second lottery. My friend was in the earlier lottery and was born on leap year so Uncle Sam added an extra number to the drawing. His number was #366! I guess some of us were just lucky and many weren't. At least 58000 plus were not, may God rest their souls.

I think the highest number they ever made go was around 150 to 175 before they went on to the next year. That was a wild time in our lives. I remember watching the drawing with my mom. She was scared to death and I was too dumb and invincible to worry about it.

Thank you all for your service! God bless you and your families always. Your time and sacrifices are appreciated. Thankfully, we now have a president who also appreciates and respects our military and veterans.
