Tough Road Ahead

Pretty much since our 2013 motorcycle accident to some degree my wife has been having pain in her left hip/pelvis that was broken and repaired at Vanderbilt hospital. Pain has been getting worse for the last six months and last week she went to her doctor to see if anything besides hip replacement could be done. Doctor did xrays and sent her for blood work and a MRI.
Got the verdict this morning, bone part of hip is dead, only option is hip replacement. She was very depressed but we were pretty sure that would be the cure. She has already had two knee replacements so kind of knows what to expect.
Scheduled for March 21st.

Sorry to hear that Arland, tell Vickie that I will remember her in my prayers and I wish her a safe and speedy recovery.

Tell her hips are way easier than knees. I'm a rehab therapist and have been told, and believe, that therapy post knee replacement is the most painful therapy. If she went through that she will coast through a hip replacement.

Physical maladies are a bummer. I it helps, my hiking friend got a new hip on 12/20. She was walking and went home that day. Recovery has not been as quick as she imagined, but she now has the ok to backpack as long as it isn't a steep incline. We'd be out this weekend, but the drought is being eliminated. And don't forget Jamie Sommers. Hip replacement might improve her life immeasurably.
