Cool NRA Convention

Well, I made it to and back from the NRA annual convention at the Georgia World Congress Center! I had a hell of a good time.
Talked to some great people, met some great people, checked out the Exhibition Hall and walked myself into the ground!! BTW, the Exhibition Hall was 15 acres of firearms, hunting, outdoors and camping vendor displays! It was more than this fat, old, ex-Lineman could handle!! Maybe if I had climbed one less pole back in the day, my knees and ankles would have held up. But NOOOooooooooo..............!!! I had to bail!!

Below are some of the pictures that I took while I was there!! Enjoy friends!! By the way, President Trump said that the Exhibition Hall was, YUUUUUUGE!!!

Sounds like you had a great time Keith...I saw today that Trump was the first president to speak at the NRA convention since Reagan. That surprised me that Bush 41 or 43 never did..

Did you get to see Trump speak ?..How was security and were firearms allowed in the convention center with him being there ?

Bush 41 was an NRA life member until Wayne LaPierre referred to ATF agents as "Jack Booted Thugs". George H W resigned from the NRA after that.

43 is a member, but he was never very aggressive or overly supportive of the 2nd Amendment or the NRA.

Legally carried firearms (with valid permit/license) were legal to carry in the Georgia World Congress Center. However, the Secret Service required anyone with a weapon, to check it into a provided locker before entering the auditorium. That was not made known until today. Other than at the auditorium, there was no heavy security. No metal detectors or bag searches. Law enforcement (officers, troopers and deputies from all over Georgia) were pleasant, professional and courteous. I thanked may for what they were doing.

No I didn't go to the President's speech. The tickets were sold out weeks ago. I hadn't decided to go until a just a short time ago.

The Atlanta Police were nice enough to exile the protesters to Woodruff Park, down the road from the World Congress Center. And I was looking forward to antagonizing some of them. Mrs. Lineman figured that I'd get my head busted or get arrested. Wrongo, Dear!!! All in all, I had one hell of a good time!!! I'd even do that again sometime. I heartily recommend it to anyone if the convention comes close to your location. Lots of fun and good will. Not to mention great vendor displays and food!! Oh yeah, they have entertainment, too. I also skipped the Hank Williams Jr. concert. I like Hank Jr, but my knees were shot to hell. I had to go!!

Your roving reporter, the Lineman, signing off!!!

Yeah I figured guns we're going to be a no no while he was in the auditorium, but I was just wondering if you guys could carry if he wasn't there and you answered my question.

A few years ago when it was here in St.Louis guns are not allowed in the America's Center convention hall and that pissed a lot of people off.

It had nothing to do with the convention rules but more of St Louis City laws.

Keith, great report out.

I wonder if the NRA will ever hold their convention in Chicago, or maybe the Republican National convention? What do you think? That would be fun.

I would love to attend the NRA convention but I'm not sure about entering that cesspool known as Chicago again. I vowed never to return to it on the day I retired (12/31/99) and so far I've avoided it.
