Cooking on the 4th?

I'm looking for suggestions on what to make for the 4th. I have all the basic necessary tools, a grill, smoker and deep fryer. Just need some ideas, if you're cooking on the 4th what are you planning on making?

It will just be me and sweet tater, so I'm just making ribs and baked beans, might get another watermelon. Keeping it simple.

I agree on grilling the sides, when it gets hot outside I refuse to cook inside and heat up the house. The only two things I use inside are the coffee maker and the microwave oven.

Having a fairly large get together so I have a Boston Butt to smoke and pull, hamburgers, hotdogs, baked beans, potato salad, fruit tray, red, white, and blueberry trifle, and two shrimp appetizers. That's all I know of for now but three others are bringing food, just not sure what they'll bring. Hey, we live in the south where lots of food is a requirement!

Swmbo wants me to put a pork shoulder on the smoker, I want to deep fry some chicken wings....so I guess we'll compromise and have pulled pork sandwiches.

We have elected to smoke ribs for the 4th. I am not clear on sides, nor do I care as long as the ribs are good. LOML makes a spicy BBQ sauce, that in our opinion beats all the store brands.

Picking up 6 racks of Costco baby back ribs. I like using theirs since they've removed the membrane ahead of time which is nice. I'll rub them tomorrow and get some corn cobs and make potato salad as well. Doing a Hickory/Cherry 2-1-1 smoke on the ribs and grill the corn. Supposedly it's just our daughter and her boyfriend coming over but one of our sons usually shows up without committing ahead.
Can't wait to pull that chit on him one of these days..
