As of now, no info on motive. By the way, churches are not safe spaces from violence. There just isn't a lot of reporting on it when it happens. A lesson to learn from this: if you have a carry permit, don't leave your gun in the car during church. Keep it on you.

Those people are lucky Mr. Engle was able to stop the guy but he shouldn't have had to run out to his car to retrieve his gun.

When Illinois finally legalized CCL's my church of over 40 years jumped on the band wagon and posted our church. It took me 2 weeks to find a new church, I don't attend as often as I should but when I do I'm armed.

It's a sad day when the house of God has this happening in it. My family's church has enough permit holders as parishioners that they have 6 for each service.

The last place a person should have to look over their shoulder in fear of danger is a church...jmho

In TN churches are not off limits to CCW unless posted. I've never seen one that is posted. Our church has 3 security teams that undergo training, wear comms, and monitor cameras. Most are carrying at all times. I wish others took it seriously as well.

We always carry in church. Churches are probably considered "soft targets" but someone trying anything in our church would certainly learn quickly there is nothing "soft" about it. But then again, I am in lower Alabama so I'm not sure anything is a "soft target" here!
