Getting laid off

My position is being eliminated here at the shop. Owners want to run it themselves. Crappy time of year for it, but I guess there is not really a good time either. Good thing my Christmas presents are all paid for and we have a little in the bank.

Sorry to hear that. What a jerk-a$$ thing to do letting people go right before the holidays. They couldn't let you stay till Jan? Get back in the game and start looking for something new. When one door closes another opens.

That sucks. Keep your head up and start looking. This could turn out to be a positive!

Thanks guys. I have some irons in the fire already, but this is a rough time of year to find work.

As they say, "I feel your pain". My last day is January 12th. Good luck and keep your chin up.

Thanks Marshal. I have moved from the "shock" phase of this to the "pissed off" phase.

After looking for a replacement job I'm back in the shocked stage since I realized that we were paid $8-$10 an hour higher than the other local companies that do what we do. I can handle finding new employment, but wrapping my head around a potential $1200-$2K less a month is quite depressing to say the least.

I know, that sucks big time. I've worked in construction all my life and Christmas layoffs where the norm. It's nice to relax a bit over the holidays but the lost income is rough. I absolutely feel your pain.
