Ring

Does anybody have a ring doorbell or the new security light/video camera from a company called Ring?

I have the doorbell. Have had some issues with it. First one died after about 8 months. They replaced it with no questions. We have a stucco exterior and have had some problems getting a good signal but seem to have that resolved now. Video is good quality. I like being able to answer as if I was home if someone comes to gate. Hard to believe living in central Houston but most video I get is squirrels and raccoons climbing my gate to get to back yard.

I have it pointed straight down my driveway and find that it has a hard time catching objects, people, coming directly at it. In fact it won’t capture my wives SUV driving up the drive but a truck on the street will set it off when it cuts across its view. Furthermore it’s very slow to notify me that a motion has occurred, my wife can drive straight at it stopping 3 feet away, get out and shut the door , put the key in the front door lock, open the door and only then will it notify me. One other thing is the life of the battery, advertised to last at least six years won’t last two weeks and of you want a record of detected motion you have to pay $30.00 a year.

Marshall pretty much summed it up. The one time I actually had the opportunity to use it was a young girl pushed the button and then waited the two minutes it takes to notify me and I got to talk to her. Usually you just get the rear end of the person walking away. I bought this thing so as to be notified when someone is approaching my house not be notified that they had been there and gone or now they are in my house already.

Ring

Have the Ring Pro.. Had a few probs at first. Lot of people complained. All my minor issues were resolved by a firmware upgrade and installing a range extender in the front of house. Solved everything. I suggest a range extender for most issues. Use 5G if possible.
CS are very helpful.
