2/19-2/21 Dunedin Causeway

Well no range reports for the next few weeks, I'm in the sunshine state on a project. I had a few days off this week and decided to explore a new fishing area. Specifically the eastern shoreline of Caladesi Island, Caladesi is a state park on the extreme northern end of Clearwater Beach and is only accessible by water. If you check the Google maps satellite view it looks really fishy, lots of flats and little islands for Mr Snook and Mr Red to grab a bite :-)
You could say conditions were "less than idea" the sun was shining and it was warm, record highs yesterday, but man it was windy so the shallow water was stirred up pretty good and the chop made it hard to spot fish. I didn't wind up hooking up with my targeted species but got the lay of the land, so to speak, figured out a little. Found several good holes that I can stake out when the tides are right. Caught a bunch of Trout and Ladyfish and paddled around 15 miles :-)
...all in all a great few days off. Weather permitting my plans for next Monday and Tuesday are set :-)

...sorry about the pics? They usually post sideways, upside-down, that's new. If you click on one it should flip?

Some folks in South Texas call them Skip Jacks. They are very acrobatic and fun to catch but I'm not aware of them being a menu item, even for us Coona$$es.

Great pics Mark !! I'm chomping at the bitbto get over to our Lakehouse with this warm weather the bass are sure to be moving up and staging for their spawn.

Thanks guys, yup Ladyfish are not for eating just catching, I've never used them for it but they are great shark bait. The schools I came across over the past few days were comprised of small fish 10-14 inches, they can get in the 24-30 inch range and are lots of fun to hook up with then. They are referred to as "poor man's Tarpon" sometimes. I've heard people refer to Cobia as Ling or Lemonfish, depending on where you are in the Gulf...
