Don't lose sight of what's going on in your backyard

Don't be so distracted by what's going on with the 2A on a federal level that you neglect to check your local government. We are fighting a major battle in Illinois right now, some of the high points are the banning of magazines greater then 10 rounds, ownership of bullet proof vests and the licensing of hobby job FFL's. If passed you would have 90 days to get rid of any high capacity magazines you have, no grandfathering. Be illegal to buy or own a bullet proof vest and require small FFL's to get a state issued business license costing more then they could make doing transfers and be subject to being regulated by everyone but the dog catcher, big stores like Bass Pro and Cabelas would be exempt.

Never let a crisis to go waste...

Sounds like Illinois is following the Rahm Emanuel script.

The Land of Lincoln just won't give up when it comes to the rights of gun owners will they ??

Thankfully I'm across the river from Illinois where the Missouri House made it easier for us here in the Show Me State.

A Missouri House committee passed a bill Tuesday night to make it easier to carry a gun in a place like a church or school. By a vote of 8-4, the House General Laws committee passed House Bill 1936, which would eliminate about 15 gun-free zones currently codified in state law. In addition to passing House Bill 1936, the committee passed a bill to allow lawful gun owners to store guns in their car in private parking lots.

C'mon, our bangers have trouble hitting a porch, much less a bulletproof vest!

In Wisconsin, you stand still if a banger empties his filthy Glock at you. And I mean stone still.

You do so for two reasons. One, you might move into a bullet that would normally miss you by six feet. Two, that tiny, little Crimson Trace switch is hard to switch on during your Tachypsychia episode.

You don't want to waste 1.25 on a well-place Critical Defense round, do you?

That's not the answer, I'd guess that less then 5% of the AR owners in the state have a private range they could use their magazines. If the magazines are made illegal they won't be allowed on any range and who's to say that they won't make it mandatory that any range owner seeing one report them immediately.

After Sandy Hook both Connecticut and New York banned the sale of "assault weapons" and required owners to register them. Gun owners in both states gave officials the middle finger. It was reported that non-compliance was so great in both states that officials balked at releasing the data, and that an estimated one-million New Yorkers did not register. Later, an "amnesty" was being considered for those who would register after the deadline. Don't know where it went from there.

Here in the free state of WVa our state government is thumbing their noses at all of this crap. Yesterday they passed the new Parking Lot Protection Bill. Meaning that your employer can't order you not to have your gun in your car in their parking lot if the parking is not secured from the public.

They can tell you that you can't bring it in their building but they can't tell you what you can have in your car unless the parking lot is gated and secured from public access.

The bill passed by huge margin and I think it will be signed into law quickly. Here we have open carry and concealed carry with no permit needed. There's three nice houses for sale on my street if anyone is looking to escape their local oppression.
