New Shooting Range in GA.

Look what they just opened up in Kennesaw, GA! A new Governors Gun Club & Shooting Range. The place is ginormous! They have indoor trap & skeet shooting, plus archery indoor and outdoor! As a member once you take the Holster Draw Qualification class you are allowed to practice drawing your pistol. I just found out that also applies to the club that we belong to. Our daughter lives in Kennesaw so are considering getting her a membership. We will probably visit this range occasionally with her but it's not convenient enough to purchase a membership for my husband and myself. Looks like it will be a fun place to visit though!

I'm curious though, anyone else belong to a club that lets you practice from the holster?

The food is excellent. It won't be completely operational until late April or May. The upstairs members area is now open for 15 and 25 yard pistol. The dining room, lounge, and deck are now open to members, too. I'm anxious to try the indoor skeet.

Man, that's a hell of a layout, I'd love to have something like that near me.

Yesterday I learned how they "manage" the mix of guns and alcohol. After shooting 100 rounds, I decided I had time for one beer before heading out. This is how the process works.

To get a shooting lane, you must submit your drivers license. They compare your ID to some info on the computer, then keep your license when they hand you the key card (locked access door) with a lane assignment. After shooting, you turn in the key card and they give your drivers license back. If you go to the bar they get your license and enter you into the computer system. If you were to go to the range counter and request a lane after visiting the bar, you would come up as being flagged as someone who recently had a drink. Lane would be refused. Currently you remain flagged for 24 hours, but they are working to make it reset at midnight.
