Saturday Night Bar is open for business

Welcome to the pub. I'll be having a Knob Creek Single Barrel 120 proof tonight. Add a little water and it goes down pretty good.

So I was thinking that for over twenty five years I've been drinking scotch and bourbon. Before that it was vodka, but one night I went to a scotch tasting, and it was an epiphany!

I know this isn't very long compared to some of you, but I feel like the old geezer now that bourbon is the "in" drink.

after 12 days of hell in the hospital i wish i could drink.....if they would say from the beginning you will be here a while is one thing but to say you'll go home the next day and change their mind constantly is ridiculous.

Had a pre-dinner Sam Adams, and now on to Browne Family Vineyard red blend, and LOML brought home a lost bottle of Glenrothes Sherry Cask.

Elijah Craig with 2 cubes and a wee splash of H2O.

I had my first taste of bourbon (Old Grand-Dad) when I was about 12, that's all my father and grandfather drank. I've had some very good scotch (Johnny Walker Blue) and really liked it but it's out of my price league. I like a good spicy Bloody Mary but that's about it for me and vodka and I don't care for tequila. The down side to bourbon being the "in" drink is that the price has been creeping up and the better bourbons are getting harder to find. I haven't seen a bottle of Elmer T Lee or Pappy Van Winkle in over 2 years and when I asked a sales rep for Buffalo Trace about it she just laughed and said good lucking finding it.

You're right Chuck. Scotch used to be cheap, the red-headed stepchild, then it became the "in" drink of choice, and now a good one will empty your wallet quickly.
