Has it been delivered?

First time I've got a pic for delivered package.

I sent my mom a package via Amazon Prime.

I clicked "Track Package" and got this.

Yup... that's her porch.

I guess with all the package thefts they’ve gone to taking pics to confirm delivery.

There is one guy that has developed a fake package device that has a trip switch. When thief picks it up a blank charge goes off scaring the crap out of the thief, usually resulting in dropping the package and or crapping their pants or both. I’ve thought about getting one just to have some camera footage to amuse me.

I received a package pic from Amazon a few weeks ago. The only issue was that it wasn't my doormat in the pic. I emailed them and an hour later another pic came and it was at my front door.

So...... what's to stop them from taking a picture of the package at your door then stealing the package and saying they delivered it and have the picture to prove it?

One step further, they are starting to Lojack their trucks. Got a message to see that your driver is 3 stops away. Brings up map of where they are. Interesting.

As with most things... fear of being caught, right?

With all the home security cameras these days it wouldn't take long. And drivers stealing are pretty easy to spot by the company cuz it's their route stuff is getting stolen.

My guess is that the overwhelming majority of claims are theft from recipient fraud "I never got my package". When folks learn a pic of the delivery exists it will probably reduce fraud.

I live in a condo complex and this past holiday season the building that houses 30-40 apartments were getting their packages stolen that were left by the front door. Those condos sit on the back of the property and butt up against the woods and a mobile home park is 50 yards away. The police came out and made report after report and told them that it probably was some kids doing this, but since those thefts happened UPS,FedEx and the Post Office now has to drop off the packages for that building at our managers office and retrieved there.

I try not to have anything shipped if I know I'll be out of town. Not had anything stolen there has been packages left at other houses instead of mine.
I don't use Amazon that often and don't pay for Amazon Prime but I did order some stuff last week from Amazon but it arrived so fast I didn't have time or need to check tracking.
I think photo proof of your door is great, to bad it can't prevent some jerkwad from stealing it from your doorstep.
