Thumbs up TN HB2550 Requires Firearms Education Course

Tennessee had a huge second amendment win in April that got very little mainstream news coverage. On May 3rd Governor Haslam signed HB2550 into law. This bill requires the State Board of Education to develop a firearms education course as an elective for high school students. The course will include history, mathematics and the science related to firearms along with firearms safety. Safety education saves lives!

I think that's an excellent idea, when I was in high school in Chicago we had a rifle range in the basement and a team that competed against other schools.

I had not heard about HB2550 bill. That's awesome, may be hope for us after all.

When I was in high school back in the 70's, 1970 not 1870's for you smart azz's. Two years of R.O.T.C. was required, so since I had to do it I tried out for and made the Rifle Team. Rifle Team members Sgt. was more laid back. We still had to Drill some and wear our uniform on Wednesday but mostly all we had to do was practice shooting. So I stayed in ROTC all three years.

I think it will be good for the kids.

I have emailed my State Senator and Representative requesting they consider similar legislation during the next legislative session.

Thanks for sharing this valuable information.
