Survival Magazines

I got so bored reading the my normal slate of magazines, that a few months ago I started reading the survival rags. Originally, it was to see which knives were popular--it's how I found out that the Barges were really taking off.

But yesterday I went to the mall, grabbed one of the survival magazines and just depressed myself to death. It was all about radiation, poisoned air, how to build bunkers, and escaping cities.

My wife and I had a discussion on the issue, and I proffered that--at best--I would join a commune of similar minded people, but "bark chewers" were just not in my plans. My wife stated she rather "go first" in a world war of civil upheaval. She had no desire to live while millions around her died.

Well, I'm also a member of a survivalist forum. We discuss food, diverse ways to make energy, bullets, knives and safety issues. It's nothing like the magazines.

But this sure bummed me out. I finished my coffee, left a tip and drove home. At some level even hobbies like prepping should be fun. And I wasn't having a lick of fun.

I am a member of Prepper Forums.net because I think it's one of the better ones.

Yes, there's some political paint-rubbing, but the guys are serious about the crafts they undertake.

I use the same handle and avatar over there, as well.
