Garry McCarthy has been on every TV station in Chicago that would have him this past week. Knowing that this was going to be a bad weekend and since people are tired of him blaming the problem on guns he's shifted the blame to the court system now.

Since the 1st of the month:

Shot & Killed: 12
Shot & Wounded: 54
Total Shot: 66
Total Homicides: 12

Maybe he's got a point. How many convicted felons serve additional jail time for possession of a firearm in Chicago? In Illinois? Anywhere in the United States?

Wink Oh Yeah!!!

Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime is good for an additional mandatory ten years in prison, here in Georgia.

Hmmm, how's that liberal administration and BS laws workin' for ya Chicago? For that matter, the entire State of Illinois.

Speaking as a Wisconsinite, I don't understand while people live in Illinois. No hills, no real football, no safety, no justice, no ability to fight back.

Even if you moved here from Chicago and just ate Velveeta all your remaining days, your life would still be better. But that's just a joke, we don't want your here, you bring trouble...

There is a whole lot wrong with Chicago and many inner cities and it is so multifaceted that it is now well beyond expectation that politicians, red, blue, or any other kind, can make any significant progress.

There's an urban legend that John Wayne once asked about a problem, and was given the response that it wasn't that simple. He followed up with, "Then why isn't it?"

Have we become so chickenspit that we cower from even the discussion of race, crime, decorum and solutions? Maybe we should all start wearing pink and loading our Kimbers with confetti.

The black mentors do not want to do anything to get their young men under control. They do not wish to counsel them, instruct them or discipline them. Hey, when is enough truly enough?

Elvis Presley's song "In The Ghetto" came out in 1969, the same year as 'Easy Rider.' Yikes, we're not discussing late breaking news.

The NRA has been complaining for many years that we don't need any more new gun laws because the ones that are already on the books are not being enforced. In particular, the laws regarding convicted felons in possession of a firearm are not being enforced -- not anywhere in the country.

Shhh . . . Keep it quiet! The news media doesn't want to know that.
