The problem of my "blind spot" is that it is not near a window. How hard is it to waterproof a camera? I know they take cameras diving, like on shark shows.

25 bucks at walmart....and they work better than any of the other ones i have had...you can set up alerts...zoom in...night vision ( unless you use them inside like i do, you have to black it out or it just reflects in the window) but they are working out great for me. can even use it to watch your pets while you are out ect.

Well, watching my dog will be a lesson in futility--he sleeps if we're both gone. In fact, if you put your hand on his favorite spot when you first get home, it's the warmest little circle in the entire house!

The camera for the "blind spot" will have to be mounted outside, on the corner of the attached garage, there are no windows there. There is over-hang from the roof.

It will get somewhat wet over time, so I think a designated water-proof light would be preferable to an interior light sealed in something.

If you have a smart TV -- give up! The damned thing can LISTEN to you even when it's OFF! As can your phone (which is always broadcasting your location -- AND if you're a target (of whom, you might ask? {shrug}) -- they can TURN YOUR PHONE MIC ON! (Silently, and with no signals on the phone for you to know.)

Alexa and Siri and all those "let me help you control your house" devices can be listening AND REPORTING even when you think it's off! Word just got out that MS (or was it Google? Any diff?!) actually has several thousand people who listen to and transcribe what the devices have RECORDED AND SENT TO HOME BASE.... the company says (maybe reasonably, unless it's YOUR private conversation it's recording and listening to!) the folks just listen and transcribe to "help the AI learn words it doesn't know, or understand through accents and such" ...

The report said that some of the 'recorded' and transcribed private moments included what was apparently TWO pedo 'encounters' and such-like.

Yeah, I often think wistfully of: "wouldn't it be GREAT to have my Venetian blinds do what I want by a word command?" I use a small remote to turn my bedroom light on and off FROM the bed -- don't have to give up my comfy position to turn the light off -- just push a button! Would it be easier to say: "house? Please turn off the bedroom light." Sure, maybe... but trust EITHER "my" govt or the big corps pushing the govt around?!

Uh. No.

(There, my morning (er, afternoon....) paranoia report.)

It's only paranoia if it isn't true. I'm with you.
