For the birds

IMG_2293.JPGIMG_2294.JPG
Out in the front yard I think I've created a small little bird sanctuary. Plenty of trees and bushes, cherry trees with berries, plenty of water and shade when they need it and I do get a lot of interesting birds coming out here that I can just see from the front porch.
This morning while perusing the forum with my coffee I heard a thump on the window. I went outside and found a Robin lying beneath the picture window. He was alive but totally dazed. Last year one died on impact but I had a feeling this one was going to make it so I picked him up and took him in the house; he was pretty calm but really out of it. My wife being the savior of all living things sent me to Petco to get a small birdcage. 40 bucks later I bring it home; we set it up with a bowl of raisins, a bowl of water and fresh newspaper on the bottom of the cage. Our plan was to keep him inside and nurse him back to health as we were going to get snow the next couple of days. About 10 minutes after we put them in the cage on the back porch with all the comforts of a bird home he starts going nuts in the cage. So I open the door and out he flies into the backyard and lands on top of the fence post.
Does anyone need a very nice very slightly used birdcage? $40 include shipping.

Next time the wife puts window cleaning on the honey-do list you'll have a good excuse.... clean windows are hazardous to the birds!

Well, by picking up dead Red-bellied woodpeckers, stunned Goldfinches, dazed House Finches, etc. It's a shame, but we're not going to hide our windows with applique; we like to look out of them.

Sounds like you need a nice little birdcage.

In two day's time you went from grass and flowers to frozen wasteland? What's next? White Walkers?

Oscar woke me up at 4:30 this morning barking at the front door and as I sat up I heard things banging on the front porch. So I grab my nightstand gun and walk to the front door and flip on the porch light and everything is blowing around. It was a dog gone blizzard with 40 mile an hour winds. It snowed till about 230 this afternoon.
