The golden spike was driven and the east met the west at "the wedding of the rails." At 60 miles from my home in Ogden, Utah, the golden spike was driven at what is now The Golden Spike National Park. This is absolutely out on the middle of nowhere. In fact, prior to the area becoming a National Monument I used to hunt Jack Rabbits there. No hunting now though. Here are a couple of links showing some of the happenings going on this week.
