I'd almost bet that Barry will turn Guantanamo over to our new buddies the Castro brothers as a sign of our new friendship! JMO

Oh, I don't see a problem with closing the place.

All we have to do is shut off the lights, buy up some good Cuban cigars, execute all of the detainees and come home. Easy peasy, lemon squeezie...

Wink Not too fast now!!

Let's see now, closing Gitmo was a campaign promise back in 2008!! We don't want to rush into anything now, do we, Barack-o? You could keep the place as a private beach resort for you and the family. It would be cheaper than ferrying your butt all over the world at millions of dollars a day, plus jet fuel and extra Secret Service protection.

What's the point of keeping it. It's a financial liability. It serves no strategic purpose. Raze the place and sell it back to the Cubans... or to land developers would could build vacation condos.

Technically, the purpose of an off-shore detention facility is to avoid giving captured terrorists Constitutional protections. If captured terrorists were brought back to US territory, they would receive the same judicial protections you and I have. Since we are not officially at war, there are no POW camps. So, terrorist captured overseas are in kind of a legal limbo.

If I were President or on the Joint Chiefs of Staff, closing Gitmo would signal a "take no prisoners" position for our military. Bad guy = dead guy. End of story. I'm ok with that.

Yeah, I'm sure the Barry O administration is thinking that way!

I believe the last year (hopefully) of Barry's reign will be used to take care of as much of his agenda! I believe the worst is yet to come and NO ONE WILL DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT! Never underestimate the socialists!!

We need to keep one thing in mind: The President did, indeed, try to close the prison at Guantanamo. The US Congress prevented him from doing so. Perhaps it is our Senators and Congressmen who want to be able to vacation in Cuba . . .
