It happened again.

My grandson was short on cash again this month and he sold me back the G43 I gave him last year on his birthday. I agreed to give him $400 for it which means I now have $900 in a gun that's worth about $300. Too much hanging around the apartment with his girlfriend rather than working a full-time job and getting a steady paycheck. He'll figure it out.

G43 for sale🙃 PM me

Doing that would not teach him anything. That's why he's in the situation in the first place. Being the only son of an only son his daddy spoiled him. Grandpa will help them out but there's going to be a lesson to be learned.

Hey Mini, did ya mean "homie"-----

I will give you some slack since you posted this at 1:30 am and you probably just arrived "home" from a night out with your "homies"

Giving the kid some tough love will help him down the road CuCa. My father made me the poster child on tough love in my early/mid twenties.

Adult kids and their parents/grandparents come in all sizes and shapes... so no one formula works for all, but one near universal truth is they will all need money. We've all been their ourselves. And if a parent or grandparent has an extra couple bucks there's no better use. They're gonna get it all anyway when we croak. The only question is how/if they get it along the way.

Random thoughts... If they're generally on the right track but something unexpected comes up and in a pinch, that's gifting time. No strings attached. If they have a bit more to learn about life then the money comes with some strings. Something like... My deck needs replacing, can you help me for the next couple weekends? Let them earn it/work it off. Big fan of that approach because you get more time together and the kid gets the satisfaction of helping you rather than you just helping him. Not much of a fan of lending money because that can lead to problems. A grandkid feeling reluctant to visit you because he owes you money isn't the outcome ya want.
