Visitors at the range....

Well, it was a fun morning at the Outer Banks Gun Club range this morning, as we has some non-member visitors on the path to the office.

That's a great photo!

We don't get any bear, but deer have figured out that our club is the safest place in Tennessee.

We've had deer walk across our 300 yd. range while we were firing.

Out of season, of course.

Great shot and setting. Good job.

I've lived among the bears virtually almost all my adult life, had close encounters when I worked in the woods in BC, but never what could be called a bad encounter.

However, one of our local county Sheriff's Deputy's just last evening shot and killed a bear that would not leave a residential area here. She got wacked three times by bean bags but still refused to leave. Pity, I really like those guys.

Oh, almost forgot, and three cougars met the same fate here in the last month. Progress..... (they were here first).

The club is on County land adjacent to a NFWS wildlife preserve, so no shooting when animals are in sight, which isn’t very often. Based on tracks, there’s a really big papa bear out there, although he’s only been seen at a great distance.

A pair once came out and “mated” on the rifle range, interrupting the shooting, but providing a great show!

The picture was taken not by me, but by the RSO on duty from inside the building
