Sourdough Bread and Life is Good!!!

I created a sourdough starter over a month ago and have been experimenting with it for a couple of weeks. First method is to let it mostly cook in the crock pot and then brown it in the oven. Nice thick crunchy crust, but not quite what I wanted. So I bought a Lodge cast iron Dutch oven. Dough needs to rise 7+ hours but wow! with the results.

Come on, admit it. Warm fresh sourdough bread is better then cake or brownies. Smile

I just started to read this today, so there is improvements coming; From the library is the best Bread reference book > The New Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day

From Amazon >
Amazon Amazon

Yeah, and that's a lot meat, and the dog is getting the good stuff, closest to the bone.

Your bread looks awesome! Love to try it. Any warm bread beats cake or brownies all day long.

Wow, I could go for a thick slice of that with some butter any time of day.

Your Lodge Cast Iron cookware was made right here in the good ole USA in a little town about 15 miles South of me in South Pittsburg Tennessee.

In the Spring they have a "Cornbread Festival" and yes they have a contest and make cornbread more ways than you can think of.

There are usually a lot of entries with hot peppers which my wife and I are not into but one year we tried some Strawberry Cornbread, which surprisingly was pretty tasty with a big bowl of pinto beans.

Man that looks friggin awesome! Even more so since I've slashed my carb intake by about 90%. I shall dream of it when I sleep.

Awesome. I have to admit, proudly, that on more than 1 occasion I have made a meal of a fresh loaf of bread and more than Dr recommended amounts of butter.

No, I will NOT stop.

Different every time. I let the dough rise overnight, and it had become very soft. I had to scrape if from the parchment paper, flour and reshape it. I was expecting a failure, but it came out great. Next time I'll mix the dough a bit drier before letting it sit out all night.

Good grief man stop it already with the fresh bread...it is my weakness worse than guns!

Going to force me to show up on your doorstep with some butter and a gallon of milk!
