Stupid question or is it???

What if a business posted a no guns allowed sign in their front door and you obeyed it. Being licensed by local and federal law to carry a firearm do they legally assume the responsibility for your safety since they have denied you the ability to do it yourself?

No, there is no added responsibility for your safety.

Of course the answer to the question is moot, as I'm under no obligation to obey signs slapped up by left wing kooks.

I do not think anyone has tested the Liability question related to these signs, though I am certain it has been debated a few times.

For the record, since we poor buggars live in Illinois, I think we know how that court challenge would go, and, even worse, you're in Cook County.

There have been several attempts to make laws to this effect, but to no avail. It always comes back to the simple fact that it's their property, their rules, and if you don't want to follow their rules, nobody is making you go in there. It's a free market, go somewhere else if you don't like their policies. I don't like it, but have to admit it's difficult to argue with.
Concurrently, you can be arrested for ignoring a GFZ sign on a private business, although it's a crapshoot whether or not you will. In my state, the odds are better that you will than that you won't. That said, it's my dice to roll, and I carry everywhere that doesn't scan for weapons except government buildings.

In Tn they have to have specific signage and it has to be on every possible entrance to the business.
Personally I carry everywhere except government buildings, I don't know any place I go that scans for weapons around me.
If they can't see it they can't say anything about it.

Yup, concealed is concealed. If they do notice just leave when they ask you too, that way you donít get cited with a trespassing charge. I carry EVERYWHERE thatís not listed on the back of my CPL as a Gun Free Zone. But I can open carry with a CPL in those Gun Free Zones. Go figure Michigan law, canít conceal but CAN open carry WITH a CPL.

Here in NC, the only places i don't carry have detectors; like at the gun shows. Turns out that several years ago, some asshole brought in a loaded shotgun, and a security moron touched it off.

So that ruined everybody's day.

Chuck, do you see a lot of businesses with these signs in your area ? I really havenít seen them here.
The only place Iíve ever seen one is at a local casino. It was impossible to see when you entered the casino. The sign was so far away from the entrance door that I canít imagine it means anything. I stumbled upon the sign because I was waiting for someone in the lobby.
