Hurricane Dorian

My son is a LT in the Coast Guard in Sector Jacksonville, working for the Captain of the Port. They also have jurisdiction over Port Canaveral, and Port Fernandina. He's on duty in their operations center, and expects to be for many more days and nights.

My wife and I live on one of NC's barrier islands on the Outer Banks, so we know hurricanes. Dorian has been a monster so far.

The National Weather Service released this special advisory for Grand Bahama and the Abacos at one PM today. Even for those of us who live near the water, this is almost unbelievable. Nothing much to do but pray for the folks there.

Earlier Reports Predicted that Dorian would turn into Florida, and cut Across the State putting us directly in it's path to the Gulf. I filled up the Subaru, ordered a Propane Delivery for the Generator, and did any last minute shopping. Since I thought that I would be Housebound for ? Days, I Procured a couple of Bottles of Glen Fiddich 14yr Single Malt for Medicinal Purposes. Now it looks like Dorian will go North instead. I Pray for anyone in it's path, but Can't return the Scotch, so I'll drink a Toast to Dorian as it passes Florida.

My son works for Duke Energy in NC as a lineman. He has his bags packed and is ready to respond to wherever they are needed. Prayers to all in the path of the hurricane.

Our neighbor across the street is a Duke Power lineman; he's on call for SC/NC.
