Erika, the storm

Stress levels are high around here. It sucks, being in the cone. I've been stressed since Tuesday watching this thing come towards us. Hopefully it will break up over the next day or so.

Looks like it is going to be a tropical storm by the time it hits FL. Still, lots of wind and rain, so please be careful.

Storms would be the scary downside to living in Florida.

We're safe! Probably, but the National Hurricane Center has gotten pretty good at these things. Let's have a drink!

Wink Keep A Weather Eye Out!!

Keep an eye on the weather. If it gets bad, be ready to bail!! I still remember back in August of 1992 returning to South Florida as a Lineman for BellSouth to rebuild after Hurricane Andrew. That was a bad one!!

I spent 8 months in Opalocka, Miami, Cutler Ridge and Homestead and then returned home to Georgia in May of 1993. Glad I never did that stuff again. Homestead was the worst. It looked like a nuclear bomb had been dropped. Nothing over 6 feet tall was left standing. I did so some engineering work after Katrina, but that is not hands on, in the trenches stuff. By that time, I was too old and fat to be climbing poles anymore!!!

If it gets rough, get the hell out! I have seen what a bad one can do!! It ain't pretty. A hurricane party stops being fun when your house's roof is setting on someone else's house a block away and everything that you own is spread over three counties!!

Keepin' you in mind. Be safe!!
