First King of Flashlights

I figure a lil' trivia may be fun.

Hints: I actually carried this on job after retiring my night stick, (which still hangs close by)... back around late 70's early '80's. It has been beat to death and even after much torture, it still works. Conventional bulb, D cells and allegedly, the first one made out of aircraft aluminum. Kept spare bulb in end cap. Still works today except awhile back, battery acid leaked onto the reflector and ate some of the mirror away.

So what is it?

Maglite would be my guess also. The on and off switch is different but back then that may have been the model.
Here is a bit more trivia Maglite is made here in southern cal. nice to see things still being made here in the U.S.A.!

Could that be a Kel Lite?

Agreed, Maglite. I have the newer version of that one, which is Halogen and rechargeable. Still the 4-'D' cell battery stick, btu roughly the same shape (newer switch). Certainly a reasonable defensive weapon in its own right.

Not a mag... It is a Kel-lite!
Bingo! Give da man a cigar! This is one tough lite! I used it as a hammer, beating master locks of doors among other things.

Kel-lite was a good light. This is my first Mag-Lite. Not as beat up as your Kel as I only hit soft objects with it. Butt of the 870 was for opening stubborn locks.
