Self cutting one's own hair

Where I am, I have to drive 30+ miles, make an appointment, spend $20.

My beard trimmer broke this morning after nearly 15 years of steady use. Rather then spend $20 for a new trimmer, for an extra $15 and I now have a Remington Indestructible Haircut and Beard Trimmer.

Remington Virtually Indestructible Haircut and Beard Trimmer Kit, HC5855

Anybody cut their own hair? Can you go out in public without a hat?

If I can do an acceptable job, more then once this is going to pay for itself.

I've been cutting my own hair for more than 10 years.

It helps if you don't give a rat's arse about what others think. However, I am a fan of short hair, so using a #2 on top and #1 on the sides & back worked quite well. Then I got lazy and just use a #1 all over. The traditional 'buzz' cut. Quick, easy to maintain, cool in summer.

Former Marine here, and I still wear my hair short. Sounds like this is going to be a good thing.

Every 3 weeks I get $20 cut and have for years...

Think of the money that I could save if my head was like Zoomy's.....

It is ironic that you started this thread Montana. I trim my mustache and nose hairs ear hairs and occasionally the shaggy hair around my ears with a pair of scissors. I have a wahl trimmer Battery operated. The problem is,it does not have a small enough head to really allow me do what I want. So three weeks ago I found an all in one remington rechargable with multiple quick change small to large heads works for the fast growing nose hair and mustache. Model PG6020 amazon 24.95
I bought mine new in the box $7.00 at the swapmeet I frequent. I travel about two blocks and get my haircut for $8.00 senior discount.Well enough about my hair. I am heading to my local indoor range and taking my new Raptor with me to start the breaking in process. I will post a Range report upon my return.

Been doing my flat tops or high and tight for decades.
You need that Wahl trimmer to tackle the 'stache and/or your Ermeys.....among other thngs... If you have other area probs, I have blade-less solutions for that too,

My wife cuts my hair and has for years. Mine is pretty short so it's an easy job.

My hair is long now but even when "the man" forced me to keep it cut I never would attempt to cut my own hair. A little trim here and there was doable but that's it.

Ditto on the Wahl trimmer....I have worn one out and I'm on my second one now...

It trims my goat to perfection and has attachments for my ear and nose hair that grow at a rapid pace as I grow older...The biggest attachment works perfect for my under arm hair and only have to finish that area off with a razor...

Been cutting my own hair for the past 15 years.I do get help from my ladyfriend for the past 10 years.#3 on top,#1 on the sides.I am a retired cop,and prior service Navy so I always have kept it short.Plus as ugly as I am a $50.00 haircut wouldn't help, luckily I got a bunch of ballcaps and cowboy hats to hide my head.
