I think there is more than one reason. I think some buyers feel they may not be able to purchase a gun in the future. I feel some are realizing the importance of being able to defend themselves in these unpredictable times.

Every time Obama talks about gun control a part of me cringes and a part of me thanks him. Ruger (RGR) and Smith & Wesson (SWHC) sales increase, their stock soars and I reap the benefit.

After Sandy Hook, firearms and ammo became scarce due to high demand and prices rose accordingly. Looks to me like the manufacturers ramped up production and now have an oversupply. Firearms and ammo are now at reasonable prices. We've gone full circle and soon it will be time for another Gun Control push. Get it now, or pay big or wait long.

I also think there are many reasons. I would mention a few but really don't want to sound like a fear monger. Let's simply say the last 7 years have had a very concerning effect on a hell of a lot of Americans. Dude 22 purchased is first AR...God Bless. I just purchased a Beretta CX4 storm probably for the same reason. I also, notice more and more AR's and the like at the gun range. I think many, or most are concerned about the deterioration of our American culture.

There also seems to be more individuals and families becomming preppers another sign of the times. So there is not only firearms being purchased but other products along the same lines of self defense and survival. The times they are a- changing!
