There is a ballistic theory that a bullet rattles and yaws when it first leaves the crown of a barrel. The conventional wisdom implies that the bullet finds its proper spiraling trajectory after it slows down a bit.

In the bad old days, us reloaders noticed more accuracy resulted from taking a little speed off the top of the load. I found that my .223 rounds shot better with 22 grains of ball powder than 23 grains. The downside is that some Ackley Improved junkies and 220 Swift fans wanted "heat."

I wonder if the Hornady engineers and ballisticians have found to way to take the yaw out of maximum speeds.
Richard likes this.

I know they just came out with a new single stage press. I watched a video about it and it looks impressive!

The ELDX bullet sounds good also. I do like Hornady products!

I suppose this is valuable to folks out west. In the Southeast, unless you are hunting a huge open field, most shot will be much less than 100 yards.

I can remember when cutting edge technology was the Nosler Partition bullet. They were all I'd use for years, never had one fail me.
